East Midlands Centre for Constructing the Built Environment (EMCBE)
Bringing together the interests of the region’s construction industry, EMCBE conducts research into key areas, organises exciting industry events and has a wealth of knowledge of the area’s construction industry.

Sustainable construction iNet and iCon
The Sustainable Construction iNet was established to help improve the competitiveness of construction industry businesses. It has a team of dedicated advisors offering assistance in research, developing and implementing new services, products and processes. It also offers important networking opportunities and funding, bringing together the region’s knowledge base and construction businesses.

The iHub will be based at the iCon innovation and Conference Centre at Daventry which specifically targets the sector. It will become fully operational at the end of 2010, when it will feature 60 business start-up offices and a 300-seat conference hall - the ideal venue for fantastic networking opportunities.

Industry investment
The largest privately owned construction firm in the UK, Laing O’Rourke’s, is developing a UK centre of excellence for off-site manufacturing. Located in Steetley, north of Nottingham, the multi-million pound investment will be the UK’s most advanced facility for the manufacture of construction modules.
