JCB and Rolls-Royce were among a delegation of UK firms who joined David Cameron on a trip to the sub-continent to build relationships and create new jobs.
The Prime Minister flew to India this week to try to enhance trade links with the country and boost investment opportunities.
Among the 68-strong delegation were representatives from Rolls-Royce, which has its civil aerospace and marine divisions in Derby, and Rocester-based digger manufacturer JCB, which also has factories at Foston and Uttoxeter.
Both companies already have a presence in India.
Also, an international firm of Notts-based architects has signed three major contracts on the same trip.
Newark-based architects firm Benoy has won contracts to design multi-million-pound schemes in Bangalore and Mumbai worth £1.6 million in fees to the practice.
The deals were signed by Benoy chairman Graham Cartledge, who has joined the Prime Minister on the visit to India.
David Cameron is leading a powerful delegation of cabinet ministers, including Business Secretary Dr Vince Cable, and senior business leaders.
Benoy said the landmark developments would deliver world-class shopping, leisure, luxury, lifestyle and exclusive residential living enhancing the quality of urban life in India.
